My husband is in the army and I actively manage our fiances.
Why I joined NetworthIQ:
To monitor our networth online in case i lose my notebook that i keep our finances in. haha
Best Financial Decision:
Automatic savings in TSP when my husband and I first got married and not living outside our means. The whole time we've been married we've never had car loans and that frees up a lot of money to do other things.
Worst Financial Decision:
Investing in individual stocks without fully researching them or knowing what we were doing. We just had $2,000 in stocks so really didnt loose much but its silly to put money into a company without knowing about them.
Current Financial Strategy:
Automatic investments in TSP retirement plan, avoid all debt (other than the mortgage), pay off our 15 year mortgage in 10 years, and save up to buy a farm one day.
How I manage my money:
We automate a lot of of finances, try to make smart financial decisions while living within our means, and I sit down and calculate our networth every month.
Tools I use:
internet, books, a notepad and calculator.
Favorite Financial Personalities:
When we first got married we happened to read David Bach's "Automatic Millionare" and it really helped us start out right with our finaces. A couple years later we read Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" which has also shaped our financial practices.
