Boglehead. Employed by an electric utility. I dont want stuff. I want freedom.
Why I joined NetworthIQ:
referred by Early Retirement forums
Best Financial Decision:
getting along with my parents, who paid my way through college. Adopting a lifestyle that allows me freedom, flexibility.
Worst Financial Decision:
Too many to choose from, but market timing/performance chasing has been costly back before I became a Boglehead.
Current Financial Strategy:
Long term buy and hold to reach financial independence and the option for early retirement. Or in a worst case scenerio, I want to minimize my chances for ending up destitute. Defense is as important as offense. Live significantly below your means. Invest for the long term by buying index funds whenever possible. Maximize tax sheltered contributions. Save aggressively. Stay out of debt no matter what. My goal is to quickly amass a comfortable amount of capital, let it compound, and let time do its thing in order to capture estimated market returns in a well diversified global portfolio. Consumption and maintaining standard of living in early retirement will be the result. The quicker I get there, the quicker the snowball will roll.
How I manage my money:
excel spreadsheet with a few columns for different assets and debt.
Tools I use:
microsoft excel is pretty universal for everything Ive needed to do. Online banking/saving/investment accounts help as well.
