As expected, since I last updated my net worth in September, it's gone up! A lot. Thanks to the markets, an extra paycheck in October and lack of spending in November/December due to two week-long vacations for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have decided that going forward, I will not be including my credit card amount under debts, as I pay them off by the time I update my net worth.

Happy New Year!

August was a solid month. I didn't spend too much, and had $300 leftover from my budget! Nothing really exciting happened this month in terms of my finances... and my networth increased, hooray!

July was crazy! I was so busy. I spent WAY more than I usually do on groceries, due to July 4th and just a bit excessive/impulse buying on my part. And I dined out a LOT because I decided to make friendships a top priority this month. Regardless of all the spending, I had a fantastic month - and the markets went up, which of course helped increase my retirement accounts!

I figured out why my networth didn't go anywhere last month - it was because I realized I had been using the incorrect value for my 401k. I was using the "Total Balance" amount instead of the "Vested Balance" and that isn't correct in the personal finance world, since who knows if I will be at the company in 5 years to receive the fully-vested balance!

June was a long month. I spent more on groceries than usual but less on dining out. My networth didn't really go anywhere - the markets were on a roller coaster so my accounts didn't increase. Hmm. Where did my money go! I feel like I didn't spend that much... ;)

May was a 3-paycheck month! I used some of my Travel Fund in the beginning (about $200) to go on a friend's bachelorette party for a weekend. The stock market did more rallying, so my retirement accounts saw some solid increases. I did not go out to eat nearly as often as I usually do, so I came very under budget in my dining out category - plus the man I am dating paid for a few meals when we did. My car got towed, which cost me $263, but thank goodness for my 3rd paycheck so I didn't have to dip into my emergency fund to pay the cost! I had a lot of fun with friends doing cheap things like hiking and playing board games and watching movies at home. It was an expensive month in terms of a lot of little things I did (pair of pants tailored, couple shopping purchases, some gifts bought, etc) but my 3rd paycheck did help - though most of it went into savings.

April was magic for my retirement accounts and definitely helped my net worth! I went out more than usual, especially to more dinners, as I am now seriously dating someone. Not much else happened this month in terms of finances and I am still slowly building my NetWorth!! :)

March was a long month! No vacation or holidays. However, I started dating someone so I did not spend as much on groceries or dining out as I usually do. I also received my state tax refund and the financial market upswing definitely helped increase my retirement accounts. We'll see what next month brings!

February was a good month. I had a lot of fun and still managed to do a lot of saving. I filed my taxes and got my federal refund! Most it went straight into savings, but some is being used to spend on things like clothes and other items. I am still contributing very consistently to my retirement accounts.

January was a long and busy month. I started training for my new position at work and spent the other half of my time at my old position. I felt like I got a lot accomplished, but still fee like I have a lot to do. My slight pay increase went into effect and I got a bonus!
