Financial New Year's Resolutions:

Resume $50 monthly conributions to my Roth IRA. (I haven't contributed to the Roth since 2008.)

$3,000 cash in savings account by December 31, 2010

Last month, I got my tenant out of my rental property. This month, I had a lady living there who was helping me with my work for a month. She's gone now, so I'll start the search for a new tenant next week.

I got a raise from my employer. It works out to about an extra $50 a month. Not much, but better than nothing. I'll use this extra money for my Roth contributions.

I bought a few Christmas gifts and booked a hotel room for my trip to Las Vegas in February with my credit card. I'll get all that paid off once I get a new tenant in my rental. On the plus side, Chase, my credit card issuer, raised my credit limit by $500.

I finally got my tenant out of the rental. I used some cash to pay the mortgage for the month, and some credit to buy painting supplies, etc. for it.

This was an OK month...I had to kick out my dead-beat tenant, so I'll be making November's mortgage payment by myself. Since the tenant is gone, I've decided to fix up the place a little bit, new paint, etc. So November's report should show a decline in my savings.

Well let's see...

I've currently got a deadbeat tenant in my rental condo. He only paid half of his rent last month...I had to take $300 from my cash to cover the rest. I'm starting to look into the legal matters to see if I should evict him.

Other than that, it was a pretty good month. Paid off my credit card.

Lots of action this month...

I re-read Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" again, so that really fired me up to get my finances in shape.

I went through my mortgage documents and realized that my condo acually appraised at $112K rather than the $108K I originally had listed.

I added some money I owe my parents into "other debts"

And it's really nice to see my retirement accounts shooting up each month!

Nice to see my mortgage drop from six digits owed to only five!

I'm also enjoying seeing my retirement accounts finally increasing!

I've decided to change my new year's resolutions a little...

My goals by the end of the year are to still pay off my credit card, but my mom just reminded me of $900 I owe her from a few years ago. I was hoping she'd forgot... ;-)

So I'll have my credit card and my mom paid off by the end of the year!

My retirement accounts took a huge jump this past month!

I used my credit card for a trip to Jerome, AZ and Ruidoso, NM, so it's gone up a little bit.

I just got a raise, though, so I'll start using that extra money to finally pay off my credit card and then bolster my savings!

I used my tax return to pay off the bulk of my credit card. I got my statement in the mail today, and my card issuer, Chase, raised my credit limit by $500! That's good news for my credit scores.

I used about $250 from my savings account for a trip to Denver.

Well, I paid off one of my credit cards, but I used my other one for tickets for a Crystal Gayle concert in Ruidoso, NM in March and a plane ticket to go visit my sister in Las Vegas, so the my credit card balance remains about the same.

I had to use some of my cash to fix the plumbing on my condo.

And that's about it.
